Pupil Premium & Covid Catchup Premium

Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium (PP)

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers.

Winterhill School can claim additional funding from the government according to the number of children attending our school who have been: Registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years and been in care for 6 months or longer.

This additional funding is called the Pupil Premium and even if your child does not want their free school meal, the additional funding it attracts can benefit them in other ways. For example, Pupil Premium funding can be used to subsidise school trips, provide extra resources, provide a nutritional breakfast every morning and employ more staff to help our students. Please click on the icon above for our full Pupil Premium report on how the Pupil Premium money is being used.
