MFL Curriculum Intent
The Modern Foreign Languages curriculum is designed to promote intercultural understanding, whilst enabling students to express their ideas and thoughts in another language. We understand the importance of content which fosters students’ curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world. Through this, our curriculum promotes diversity and respect towards other cultures.
Our curriculum allows students to be continuously resilient in their development of key MFL skills: reading, writing and speaking based on grammar, vocabulary and phonics. Students will develop this further by communicating information beyond their personal interests and developing and justifying opinions in speech and writing, with spontaneity, independence and accuracy. Critical curriculum content and high frequency language will be revisited regularly as we progress through the curriculum.
The MFL curriculum aims to develop language- learning skills for immediate use and to prepare students for future language use, including language learning at a higher level, international study and international career opportunities.
