English Curriculum Intent
Within English we strive to equip our students with a lifelong appreciation for the impact of the written word and develop resilient critical thinkers who can interrogate the world around them. Our English curriculum gives students the opportunity to:
-
use a range of appropriate and ambitious vocabulary to be able to articulate their thoughts and feelings with precision, clarity, fluency and respect.
-
experience the pleasure of reading a variety of texts and to explore the full spectrum of human experience.
-
appreciate the depth and power of the English literary heritage and beyond.
-
develop cultural capital that will remove barriers to comprehension and achievement both in school and in the world of work
-
inspire creativity, whilst also developing our students into responsible and independent learners.
It is our vision that the students will leave us with an enquiring mind to fully engage with the world around them.
